Puccini’s popular opera tells the love story of an American naval officer and his soon to be Japanese wife ‘Butterfly’. Spanning over years Madama Butterfly explores themes of tragic love, betrayal, death and a clashing of cultures. John Bell, touted as one of Australia’s greatest theatrical minds directs this production which is performed in Italian with English surtitles.

Backed by the full OA Chamber Orchestra, Opera Australia will be joined on stage with a Children’s Chorus performed by Bunbury’s own the SWOClets.
